Chips & dip are ALWAYS a huge hit at any event. Sure, the store-bought chip dips are a great go-to snack, but I can guarantee making it homemade will have your guests asking for the recipe and coming back for more! Aside from caramelizing the onions, this dip is super quick to make and if you’re in a time crunch, you can always caramelize the onions ahead of time and mix up the dip when it’s party time. Chips are certainly a classic when it comes to dip, but you can also use alternatives such as vegetables, pita, crackers, or whatever you feel like. Give this crowd-pleasing dip a go!

- Slice the onion into medium to thin slices. Add to a pan on low heat with the olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Continue to stir and add in 1 Tbsp of the chicken broth and 1 tsp of the brown sugar.
- Keep the pan on low heat and stir frequently. You can keep the pan covered for a couple minutes at a time and stirring in-between to ensure the onions don’t burn. Once the onions start to become golden, add in the remainder 1 Tbsp of chicken broth and continue to stir.
- The onions will be caramelized once they are golden brown and a slightly creamy texture. It will reduce down significantly.
- In a mixing bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, sour cream, mayo, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt and pepper to taste.
- Add in the cooled caramelized onions and mix to combine.
- Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve or serve immediately.
This is such a savory tasting onion dip. So much better than what you can buy in the store!
