Description

This might be one of my favorite non-chocolate desserts of all time. It’s such a classic and surprisingly simple to make. If you want the top to be extra crunchy, keep it in the oven for a few minutes longer until golden brown. And don’t forget the ice cream on top! A drizzle of caramel will take it over the top and everyone going back for seconds. This is a really great alternative to an apple pie for the upcoming holiday season! Less work, but all of the same great flavor. Give this recipe a try- your family and friends will thank you!

Ingredients
    Apple Filling Instructions
  • 5 Medium to Large Apples, cored and sliced about ¼ inch thick (I used Honeycrisp as they are in season)
  • 1/2 cup Swerve Brown Sugar ( (Can use regular brown sugar)
  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch
  • 1/2 Orange, zested and juiced
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Cloves
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • Crisp Topping Ingredients
  • 1 cup Oat Flour (I make my own, see notes below)
  • 1 cup Rolled Oats
  • 1/2 Orange, zested
  • 1/3 cup Swerve Brown Sugar (Can use regular brown sugar)
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, cold and cubed (1 stick)
Instructions
    1. Preheat oven to 350*F and prepare an 8x8 glass baking dish and/or small ramekins with non-stick spray.
    2. Add all of the apple filling ingredients into a large mixing bowl and mix until well combined.
    3. In a separate bowl, add the oat flour, rolled oats, orange zest, and brown sugar and mix.
    4. Add in the cubed cold butter and using your hands or a pastry cutter, combine until crumbly and the butter turns pea sized.
    5. Pour the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish or ramekins. Top off with the crisp topping mixture.
    6. Bake for 50-60 minutes, until bubbly and the top is golden brown.
Notes
  • Oat Flour is super easy to make yourself. Add 1 cup of oats to a blender and pulse until it is a flour consistency.
